Another phone scam is making the rounds.
This time callers are approaching veterans and their widows claiming to be from the Royal Canadian Legion.
Their being told they’ve won a basket and some money.
Executive Director with Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command Valerie Mitchell-Veinotte says they don’t raise money in that way.
“We’re concerned that the general public may confuse this other potential telephone scam with our current initiative to raise funds through our Veteran Services Recognition booklet.”
Mitchell-Veinotte says the booklet is a major fundraiser for the Legion and the timing of this scam is unfortunate.
She says if anyone has concerns about a call they receive, they should contact the legion.
