A new organization for artists in the region continues to grow.
More than two-dozen artists, representing arts of every genre, met early last month at the Holy Trinity Church Hall for a round-table discussion.
Andre Haines, the event’s facilitator, says the group’s mandate is to nurture, foster and promote the arts.
The group is tentatively called ‘Anchor For The Arts’ but Haines says they will be filing with the Registry of Joint Stock Companies and need a permanent name for the organization.
Everyone is invited to come out to Holy Trinity Hall on Saturday February 24 at 2pm and share their ideas for a name.
“It’s going to be a fun and exciting process. We’re asking the community to come forward, give us submissions on what you think a great think a great name for an arts organization would be, keeping in mind that our mandate is to nurture foster and promote the arts.”
Haines says there will also be an election of officers on that day.
He says at a another meeting people will be asked to come up with a logo design for the group.
Haines says the group does not want to get involved in any particular building or location for a new arts centre.
Haines says the organization has been created to promote and nurture artists.
