The Town of Yarmouth will soon set their winter parking regulations.
Beginning Friday, December 1st until the end of March, several restrictions will be in place.
This includes no street parking between 1am and 7am, or for a period from one hour after a snowstarm starts until two hours after it ends.
Mayor Pam Mood says it’s all about safety.
“We have to make sure that our roads stay clear for emergency purposes. Most towns and cities do the same thing with the parking ban. It’s for safety reasons, so that emergency vehicles can get through when they need to.”
Mood says for the month of December, parking is free downtown.
She says there will still be infractions, just no time violations will be in place.
“If you want to park on the streets or in parking lots, you don’t have a time restriction. It’s great for those who want to do their Christmas shopping.”
