The Municipality of Yarmouth is looking to continue improvements in the John’s Cove area.
It has invested a lot of money over the years into the Cape Forchu Lighstation and surrounding lands with many improvements made this year.
District 6 councillor Loren Cushing really wants to enhance the experience of the many tourists and residents who enjoy John’s Cove Beach.
He’s hoping the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal will help.
“To gain some of the right-of-way they own on the Lobster Pound Road on the north side of that. To have that widened out enough so that a parking lot can be constructed there because of the heavy use of John’s Cove, It’s a very, very popular place. And, then I’m working with the municipality, I’ve done some research on portable change rooms.”
Cushing says the Municipality of Yarmouth would also like to see the road to the lighthouse widened to better accommodate buses and increased traffic.
