If you drive a diesel-powered vehicle you should expect a slight price increase at the pumps Friday.
The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board makes its weekly price adjustment at midnight.
Gas analyst Dan McTeague with Gasbuddy.com says it’s normal to see a price increase in diesel this time of year.
He thinks the increase will only be about a cent a litre.
He says the price of gasoline will move the other way.
“We’re entitled to a smaller decrease this week, about 1.5 to 1.7 cents a litre, but it’s heading in the right direction.”
McTeague says it depends on what type of methodology the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board uses.
“Again, we come back to the point of the utilities board using a number of benchmarks. It’s almost as if they can choose the benchmark of the week they want. The one that I know works, because it’s verified by Bloomberg and OPIS (Oil Price Information Service), suggests 1.5, 1.7 as the decline (gas) and of course on the diesel side about 1 cent a litre increase.”
