A popular camp for youth in Yarmouth County had another successful season.
Camp Peniel , located in South Ohio on the Cedar lake Road, is a Christian retreat for youth and children.
It’s owned by Yarmouth County Association of Baptist Churches.
Managing director Trent Raynard says this past summer they had 422 registrations, up 15 over 2016.
“So that covers a lot of different kinds of camps. We had your traditional week-long overnight camps, we also had about a week of day camp and we had a buddy camp for people with special needs. We have a sponsorship program for the camp, it’s called Send A Kid To Camp. Local individuals can contribute towards that as well as local organizations. We’re able to cover some or all of that fee in order for kids to come to camp, based on need ”
The camp program runs for seven weeks from July to August.
Camp Peniel has been operating for 56 years.
