Fundraising efforts continue for the Yarmouth Curling Club.
Last month, problems with the ice compressor and the chiller forced a delay in the opening of the season at the club on Forbes Street.
Past-President of the Yarmouth Curling Association Rick Allwright says all the parts should arrive in two to three weeks.
“Then we need to install it, get it running and put ice in. We’re hoping to be up and running by Christmas or the new year.”
The total cost of repairs and installation is around $86,000.
Last night, Yarmouth town council approved nearly $12,000 in funding for the club.
Allwright says similar asks are out to the municipalities of Yarmouth and Argyle, and the province has been approached.
He says members plan to conduct fundraisers such as ticket sales, trivia nights and more.
Allwright says many members have stepped up to help save the sport of curling in Yarmouth.
