Work has begun to address erosion along a section of a Yarmouth County road.
It’s the Melbourne Road which is the only way leading in and out of Pinkney’s Point.
Tides from storm-surge have been washing away the ground, and a post holding a guardrail was almost completely visible.
Brian Taylor, a spokesperson for the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal says crews are working on repairing the slope.
“It’s an approximately 100-metre long section of the shoreline along the point there. They’re removing any of the compromised structural pieces.”
He says a barrier of armor stone will be placed along the shore line, the slope will then be built up with layers of rock fill and loose stone to protect the shoreline from any further erosion.
Taylor says the work is expected to be completed by the end of December.
Municipality of Yarmouth District 2 Councillor Daniel Allen says he’s pleased work is being done because the situation was getting bad.
“With winter coming and the tides and storms, it was only going to get worse.”
