The Tri-County Regional School Board held their annual general meeting last night in Yarmouth.
Each year, the positions of Board Chair, Vice-Chair and Third Member of the Executive are voted on by all members.
Michael Drew was named Board Chair for the second straight year, edging out Donna Tidd.
Tidd was overtaken as Vice-Chair by Melanie Surette-Kenney and Michael Alden Fells was selected as Third Member of the Executive.
Earlier in the meeting, Superintendent Paul Ash presented his first annual report.
In it, he noted that TCRSB students were still performing below the provincial average in areas like math and writing in 2016-2017.
He says the Board is in the process of developing a five-year strategic plan.
“The board identified the goals for which they would like us to focus on over the next five years and we as a staff have begun working on developing a strategic action plan for each of those goals to address the issue of student performance.”
The plan incorporates areas like literacy, numeracy, RCH, human resources and operations.
Meanwhile, Board members filled out ballots for nominations and votes for the positions of Board Chair, Vice-Chair and Third Member of the Executive.
Michael Drew was elected Chair for the second straight year, Melanie Surette-Kenney was elected Vice-Chair for the first time, taking over from Donna Tidd.
Michael Alden Fells was elected Third Member of the Executive.
