RCMP will be present in a school in Chester this morning.
A note was discovered by a custodian Friday in a washroom at Forests Heights high school suggesting there could be a shooting.
The note was forwarded to RCMP Sunday and school officials and RCMP investigated over the weekend.
Superintendent with South Shore Regional School Board Scott Millner says they’re confident school can carry on as usual today.
“If parents do feel that they need to keep their children, the student, home from school, we understand that. But at this point we’ve determined the school can operate as it would on any Monday.”
Milner says the schools are reviewing security camera footage but there are no suspects yet.
Cpl. Dal Hutchinson says RCMP have interviewed several people and determined there was no imminent danger.
He says no-one should find this type of prank funny.
“Doing such a thing by leaving a note and making reference to harming other people has a huge impact not only on the school itself and its students but on the community as well.”
Hutchinson says RCMP take all threats of this nature seriously and a thorough investigation is underway.
