Police say just before 1a.m. Saturday morning, Yarmouth Rural RCMP, assisted by Yarmouth Town RCMP, Western Traffic Services, and Yarmouth-Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit, responded to a 911 call of a man having been shot at a residence on the Pembroke Rd. in Pembroke.
Cpl. Dal Hutchinson of the Nova Scotia RCMP tells CJLS News that officers found a 38-year-old Yarmouth County man outside of the residence.
“He was suffering from a gun-shot wound and was later transported to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, where he was then transported by EHS Lifeflight to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with life-threatening injuries.”
Hutchinson says a 32-year-old man from Digby County was arrested at the scene without incident.
“He has not been remanded yet but he remains in police custody where he is facing charges for Attempted Murder along with other firearm related offences. Just to put people’s minds at ease, the victim and the suspect were known to each other.”
A third man at the residence is not facing any charges.
The investigation is continuing with assistance from the Yarmouth Clare SCEU and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
