(CJLS photo shows new location of Thrift Store)
The Salvation Army Thrift Store has been part of the fabric of downtown Yarmouth for many years in the unique building at 259 Main Street.
The store will be moving three doors north (287 Main) to a new location once renovations there are complete.
Captain Mike Mailman says while they will be sorry to say goodbye to the present location, the new building will still be downtown and will better meet the needs of the community.
It’s a shame it wasn’t more suited to our current purposes because it’s wonderful building and it holds a lot of history.”
“There’s more space. it’s more accessible. We won’t have those big high stairs. At the back we’ll have a double door for unloading furniture. It will be better for us and for those that come to visit the store.”
Capt. Mailman says they’re not sure when moving day is as renovations to the new location must be completed first.
The Thrift Store is open to anyone and all profits go right back into the community programs that the Yarmouth Salvation Army offers.
