It’s almost time to play ball!
Ball hockey, that is.
A new outdoor arena is nearly finished on the front lawn of Mariners Centre in Yarmouth near Jody Shelley Drive.
Arena boards are now up around an asphalt pad, hockey nets and other netting will be installed as well.
The boards are from the Play On! Street Hockey tournament hosted by Yarmouth in 2013.
Yarmouth Recreation Director Frank Grant says the public will be able to use it soon.
“We’re going to put some temporary signage up today, once it’s up and ready to go, we’re going to drop the nets in and it will be ready for people to use.”
Times for the arena can be booked through Yarmouth Recreation for free.
Grant says they thank the Mariners Centre Management Board, Trefry Excavation and Aberdeen Paving for making this happen.
