A new crosswalk is nearly installed in Yarmouth.
It will be on Parade Street, connecting Clements Avenue to the Maud Lewis Trail.
New poles and an overhead crosswalk light have been put in place.
Mayor Pam Mood says it should be ready before the end of the month.
“The crosswalk will be painted as soon as the weather is good enough. They are planning on doing that this week.
Mood says drivers will have to be aware, as it is a busy spot.
“We have students from the high school that go that way, folks that are trying to connect from one end of the town to the other. We will make sure enough signage is up for people to be aware of the new crosswalk.”
Clements Avenue has been closed for months, but work is nearing completion.
Mood says the job entailed several components, including a new water line, new drainers and asphalt.
The federal government contributed $60,000 towards the $500,000 cost of the project with the town footing the balance.
