The Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 84th Independent Field Battery Royal Canadian Artillery is encouraged over a new, faster Reservist enrollment process.
Neil LeBlanc says the Expedited Primary Reserve Force Enrollment Process will allow the Canadian Army to enroll new recruits within a matter of weeks, not months.
LeBlanc says they have over 50 reservists in Yarmouth, and they are always looking for more members.
“The Forces, without the Reserves, really couldn’t function. I think people aren’t really aware of that. A good percentage of work comes from the Reservists, and I think that surprises people.”
LeBlanc is encouraging people to look at this as an opportunity.
“The process is streamlined now. There have been some delays in the past, and that can be a negative, but we’ve worked hard to make things smoother and more efficient.”
LeBlanc has over 14 years’ experience in public service as a member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly and Cabinet.
He was appointed to the honourary position last year.
LeBlanc says this streamlined process will make it easier for those interested to begin rewarding careers.
The new process was spearheaded by 36 Canadian Brigade Group, which is responsible for Primary Reserve Force units in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
