A decade old annual run is coming up this weekend in Yarmouth.
The Lake Run is a fundraiser for the Yarmouth Whitecaps swim team, at a distance of 6.7 kilometres.
Runners will leave the municipal building in Hebron on Sunday morning at 9 and run around Doctors Lake.
Organizer Bobby-Lou Reardon says everyone is welcome.
“People sometimes come and walk as well. The distance is an off-distance, which can be fun. It’s not about your best 5k or 10k, it’s about participation.”
Reardon says it’s an important cause, as the Whitecaps have to travel long distances for every swim meet.
“There aren’t any meets here in Yarmouth, we don’t have the facility to put that on. So they travel for all those events, and three different groups travel at least three weekends out of the month. This run is meant to help with that expense.”
Registration can be done on race day or pre-registration is available at Runner’s Attic.
