There’s an urgent appeal from the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives.
A leak is threatening some displays and artifacts.
It’s in the roof of the main museum, what was the old granite church.
Plastic coverings have been placed over most of the Mi’kmaq display cases and over part the C.E Dyke cabinets.
It will be July until the work can be done.
Museum Director and Curator Nadine Gates says it will be an expensive job.
“We’re looking at $68,000, probably a bit more than that when it’s all said and done. It’s been a project that they’ve looked forward to for a while now. Last year we had our main window on Collins Street replaced because that desperately needed to be done. It’s never ending with an older building
Gates says while the museum is looking for alternate sources of funding, they are asking for help from the public and those who have supported them in the past.
