The Western Regional Enterprise Network is one of 27 organizations across Canada to adopt the Connector program.
It targets people who want to grow their career in the Western Region, from Digby to Barrington, connect with the people who are involved in their industry.
It is for newcomers, as well as international and local post-secondary graduates.
The manager of the program, Brenda LaGrandeur (le-GRAND-er) says her goal is to meet with the individuals and get them to the right business leader.
“From there they would be referred on to three other people in the industry so they could, hopefully, learn about any hidden or realistic job opportunities that are here.”
LaGrandeur says in turn the connectees gain a better understanding of the local job market, and connectors benefit from exposure to a pool of new talent.
“We know employers that are posting positions looking for skilled workers and they’re just not finding the right people so we’re hoping that this program will start connecting the right people with the right employers.”
