The federal government is promising to improve air travel for Canadians.
On Tuesday, Transportation Minister Marc Garneau announced they plan to have a passenger bill of rights outlined in the next few months.
Bill #C49: These air passenger rights will ensure that travellers are treated like people, not just a number. https://t.co/Ux5niRYW2Q

The bill would guarantee certain standards for air travel and inform passengers what compensation they are entitled to if an airline fails to meet those standards.
Security wait times are also on government’s radar as they look to get those down around ten minutes for most travellers.
In addition, Garneau says government is looking to increase competition among airlines in order to lower airfares for consumers.
He says government will allow foreign companies to own up to 49% of a Canadian airline with no single international investor owning more than 25%.
