Yarmouth’s mayor says both the town and the board of directors of the Yarmouth Arts Regional Centre will meet again, likely after the election.
Both parties are trying to come to an agreement on a location for a new arts centre.
The town favours a downtown site, while Th’Yarc folks simply want it built on a suitable site.
A stakeholders meeting was held recently at Mariners Centre.
Pam Mood says it was focused on determining what the needs of the community are when it comes to an arts and culture centre.
Mayor Mood says they’ll meet again with the Th’Yarc board to discuss governance.
After a governance and location are agreed upon, she says funding is next.
“I think everyone agrees that we want to be on the same page when we go after funding. It’s important we go after the same thing. While we want to move the process along as quickly as possible, we certainly want to make sure that we do the right thing as well.”
Debate over a new arts centre has gone on for about eight years.
