The more than 1,400 pilots at WestJet voted in favour of joining a union this past week.
62% voted to join Air Line Pilots Association International, the world’s largest pilot union representing more than 55,000 pilots at 32 US and Canadian airlines.

The Canada Industrial Relations Board has already approved the results, and the ALPA is officially the exclusive bargaining agent for the WestJet pilots.
The focus for WestJet pilots now shifts to establishing pilot representatives in Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver.
That lays the foundation before beginning negotiations for their first collective agreement.
