A group of junior high students have won Canada’s Coolest School Trip.
Allison Overbeeke’s grade eight class from Lethbridge Christian Academy won a trip to Nova Scotia.
They produced a video promoting their local national park and encouraged members of their community to vote for them online.

Overbeeke says she was blown away by the creativity and determination shown by her students.
“They learned so many skills. Getting costumes, and what did they want to present. And then they had to put the video clips together, and then once they put it together they had to promote it within their community.”
Overbeeke says that community engagement was the key to their success.
“They made presentations to our WHL hockey team in town to promote it on the jumbotron. They got it at the movie mill in front of the movies. They went and did presentations at schools, media presentations.”
Overbeeke says the students’ dedication has made this the most satisfying class project she’s been involved with.
The class will spend June 5-9 visiting several National parks in the province including Kejimkujik, Fort Anne, the Halifax Citadel and Grand Pre historic site.
