It’s a trip of a lifetime for a Liverpudlian and his 15 year-old son.
Bruce Inglis is making his way to California to watch game seven tonight between the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks.
The beloved Oilers fan says the last-minute trip was made possible after using aeroplan points and finding tickets for the game.
Inglis says he feels like the luckiest guy in the world.
“As I’m sure other Oilers fans will appreciate, it’s been a long, long dark period. A chance to see them in a seventh game and hopefully move on is pretty special.”
The Oilers last made the playoffs in 2005-06, tied with Florida for the longest post-season drought in NHL history at 11 years.
Inglis began his trip around 6:30 this morning with a flight out of Halifax with his son, Lincoln.
He’s hopeful the Oilers can win tonight and advance to the Western Conference finals against Nashville.
Inglis would love to see an all-Canadian Stanley Cup final with Edmonton versus Ottawa.
