The Green Party has a candidate in Yarmouth for the provincial election.
Jim Laverie, a nurse and resident of Forest Glen hopes to be elected on May 30th.
Laverie says he felt compelled to put his name on the ballot to bring forward the Green Party’s progressive platform as an option to Yarmouth voters.
“Nova Scotians expect a better vision, and that vision is the Green vision. A truly sustainable green economy, renewable energy, accountability in government, and that includes opening the books.”
Laverie says accessible student first education is also vital, including making NSCC education free for Nova Scotians.
He says a comprehensive health system and poverty reduction are also things the Greens will fight for.
Laverie is up against the Liberals’ Zach Churchill, the Progressive Conservatives’ Mitch Bonnar and NDP candidate David Olie.
