The riding of Queens-Shelburne now has a fourth option on the ballot.
Kathaleen Milan has decided to run for the Green Party of Nova Scotia.
Milan has been interested in politics, the environment and nature her entire life.
She believes the Green Party offers something different.
“They absolutely told us as candidates that it’s always your constituents first, party second. We would never expect you to vote against your constituents wishes.”
She says MLAs representing other political parties tend to vote as a party rather than individuals.
Milan is up against Vernon Oickle of the Liberals, John Davis of the NDP and the PC’s Kim Masland in Queens-Shelburne.
She says those three parties seem to have the same agenda when elected to government.
“For me, it’s really important that the people in your riding get to actually have you as a conduit, not just somebody who goes there and can be whipped into voting in ways we don’t even agree with.”
Milan she has a keen interest in politics and now was the right time to pursue it.
