You may have noticed an increased police presence in downtown Yarmouth on Friday morning.
Yarmouth Town RCMP says they were called around 8:30 to investigate an alleged purse-snatching.
Corporal John Stoddart says police spent considerable hours doing follow-up, even looking at video of the area.
He says the complaint was unfounded.
“Unfounded in our books means it didn’t happen. As a result, an adult female from Yarmouth could possibly face charges of public mischief down the road.”
Cpl. Stoddart says public mischief is when a person falsely reports a criminal offence.
