Provincial Health Minister Victor Boudreau is being blasted for letting Canadian Plasma Resources run a for-profit collection clinic in Moncton.
New Brunswick Health Coalition co-president Nancy Arseneau accuses Boudreau of letting that company exploit the poor and vulnerable.
She adds it’s inconceivable Boudreau accepts the fact citizens are being forced to sell their plasma to make ends meet at the end of the month.
Canadian Blood Services considers blood and plasma to be a public resource, and one that should be for the benefit of all, not a private company.
Arseneau is asking Premier Brian Gallant to pass a law banning payment for blood or plasma donations, as has been done in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta.
Our newsroom reached out to both Canadian Plasma Resources and Minister Boudreau for comment, and is awaiting a response.
