Volunteers from the town and municipality of Yarmouth were honoured last night.
A reception was held at Yarmouth Town Hall and 43 received certificates.
Local organizations got to nominate an individual to receive the honour.
Two Provincial volunteer representatives were recognized as well.
Rachelle d’Entremont with the Town of Yarmouth shared a story about helping a young woman a few years ago.
She says that’s what keeps her volunteering.
“When you can impact someone else’s life in a positive way, it feels good. That’s what keeps us going as volunteers and I think everyone in this room can attest to that.”
Norman Amirault was the municipality’s provincial volunteer representative.

He says it comes down to helping people.
“I do it for the love of it, and helping people out. I just want to keep doing it, I’ve been doing it all my life more or less.”
The ceremony was done as part of National Volunteer Week.
