Mixed messages by Nova Scotia’s minister of transportation and infrastructure renewal.
Geoff MacLellan said last week that government would announce it’s decision on using tolls to twin highways this week.
But, nothing has come.
MacLellan is now saying the decision will come next week.
“I was certainly hopeful, that one is on me. Obviously with the magnitude of this decision; the discussions that have been taking place for two years, the consultations and all those things, we just needed a bit more time to get ready and tighten up some of the details.”
Roughly 7,400 people provided feedback to government and that correspondence was released earlier this month by MQO Research.
Most people say they want safer highways but don’t want to pay a toll.
Eight sections of the 100-series highways have been tabbed for twinning at a cost of more than $2-billion.
