For the 35th time, volunteers in the Municipality of Argyle will be recognized.
A banquet will be held on April 28th at the social club in Surette’s Island.
Argyle Recreation’s Director of Programming and Active Living Ginette d’Entremont says 22 people will be honoured.
“Two per district for our Councillors, one municipal representative, and three students, two from Drumlin Heights and one from Par-en-Bas.”
d’Entremont says this event shows that the municipality cares about what the volunteers do.
“And that they are appreciated for all the time they put into their busy lives by volunteering in many different organizations.”
This year’s provincial representative is Jill Surette of Argyle.
d’Entremont says Surette has been volunteering since the 90’s, beginning with mini-basketball, and has coached junior and senior girls basketball.
She is also involved in the Abuptic festival.
Surette will be honoured in Halifax with other provincial volunteers on Tuesday.
