A local musician will be inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame this year.
71 year old Gary Greene of Lower Argyle has been playing the fiddle since he was 12.
Over the years, he has played in numerous bands and taken part in countless festivals, including the Coal Shed Music Festival.
He also has four albums, and was named Maritime Fiddling Champion in 1994.
Greene was asked for his reaction on entering the hall.
“I was quite surprised. I felt honoured that I was asked to go. Being inducted into the Hall of Fame, it’s quite an honour. I take it very seriously, and I will enjoy it very much. It’s a good thing.”
The ceremony will take place in Truro on September 16.
Greene is one of five inductees this year.
Other names in the Hall of Fame include Hank Snow, Rita MacNeil, George Canyon, Anne Murray and more.
