Another local organization received a large donation from the 100+ Guys Who Share in Yarmouth County.
The Tri-County Parkinson’s Patients and Caregivers Support Group – Parkinson’s Canada took home $12,700 at the meeting last Thursday.
Group member Jacqueline Landry made the winning presentation to the 100+ Guys.
Landry has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s and has been raising awareness.
She says they’ve been working hard.
“We’re definitely making big strides in this end of the province, especially now with this donation. It’s quite humbling to get the donation.”
Landry says the money will be used to rent a larger area for meetings and to connect outside specialists to ones already in Yarmouth.
“We now have the means to get these specialists here in Yarmouth. It sort of levels the playing field, because we live in a rural area and sometimes we don’t have access to these specialists that are crucial.”
The 100+ Guys meet every few months and select an organization to provide funding for.
Every member gives $100.
The group celebrated their first anniversary at the meeting.
