The feedback is in and the results don’t support using tolls to twin highways sooner in Nova Scotia.
The idea was not universally accepted by roughly 7,400 people who provided feedback through public sessions, online survey or through mail or email correspondence.
Eight sections of the 100-series highways have been tabbed for twinning at a cost of more than $2-billion.
Many comments feel there are less expensive solutions than twinning to address highway safety.
They include widening shoulders or creating more passing lanes.
Some of those who are in favour of highway twinning have the expectation tolls would have a reasonable cost and discounts for frequent users and distance travelled.

The Nova Scotia government will make a decision on next steps this week.
