New water filtration systems are up and running at two Tri-County Regional School Board schools.
Yarmouth County’s Plymouth School in Yarmouth County and Weymouth School in Digby County were on bottled water for several months.
Director of Operations Steve Stoddart says the schools failed chemical analysis tests in September based on arsenic levels.
“So we had to put bottled water in the schools and start having a new filtration system designed for both schools. We’ve done all that work, now both schools are back on their water. It took a while to do that, but we finally have them back on their own water, and everything seems to be going well.”
The schools have been using their own water supply for about a month.
Stoddart told the Board last night that the new system at Plymouth cost around $32,000 and Weymouth’s was around $49,000.
Back in January, a Board motion to move Plymouth students to the old Arcadia School until the water issues were dealt with was defeated.
Weekly water tests are continuing.
