Patients, staff and visitors will notice a big change when they go to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital today.
The main corridor connecting the three buildings of the complex is open.
It has been closed since a major flood in December.
Spokesman Fraser Mooney says it marks a milestone in three months of extensive repairs and renovations.
“To have that finally open after several months of being closed due to the flood damage, patients will not have to walk outside to get from one part of the hospital to the other.”
Mooney says there is still no estimate on the cost of repairs.
“We’re very pleased with the progress of the repair work. Given a job of this size, you have to prepare for the unexpected, and that can happen. It does take a long time.”
He says it will be July before all of the work is completed.
