Those who use or own Epipens should check whether their device is affected by this week’s recall.
Pfizer Canada Inc announced a voluntary recall yesterday in consultation with Health Canada over both Epipen 0.3 milligram , and Epipen Junior 0.15 milligram auto-injectors.
In Canada, the recall impacts one lot (5GU763) of the 0.3 mg strength of EpiPen Auto-Injector expiring in May 2017 and one lot (5GR765) of the 0.15 mg strength of EpiPen Jr Auto-Injector expiring in March 2017.
Pfizer says the recall was prompted by two previously disclosed reports of Epipens failing to activate because of a potential defect in a supplied component.
The defect could require increased force to get the Epipen to work, or could prevent it from activating at all.
Pfizer says they are committed to replacing the recalled devices at no cost.
