The leader of the provincial opposition party says government is participating in the worst kind of old-time politics.
Government has issued a number of funding announcements over the past week, fueling speculation that an election could soon be called.
Jamie Baillie says Nova Scotians have needs that must be met such as health care, more doctors and better better roads.
“You can’t tell people for three years you can’t have those things because there’s no money and then go on a spending spree on the eve of an election. That is no way to run a province.”
Baillie says he is against this kind of pre-election spending.
“This is what drives me nuts about politics. You know, I was in the credit union and the private sector for my career until I ran last time. I know exactly how awful that looks and how that’s so out-of-date and old fashioned.”
He suggests setting fixed election dates as a way to put a stop to it.
