A group of seniors are having fun with a unique way to celebrate Canada’s 150th. And it’s really catching on.
Residents of Bayside Home in Barrington are looking for postcards from across Canada.
The goal is 150 from all provinces and territories.
Jennifer Spencer, Bayside’s recreation director, says the residents will also be responding with their own postcards.
“We do a program called Coffee Talk every morning. We were talking about Canada’s birthday and which province that residents had visited and our recreation programmer Julia Smith came up with the idea of postcards. We’ve gotten two so far, so we’re on our way, and the residents are really looking forward to getting all the postcards to see all their friends across Canada and see the love out there and stimulate some conversation.”
Spencer says the program includes families.
Some local schools are also doing something similar.
She says they’ve received two postcards already and have had 20,000 views on their Facebook page post.
