It’s been a busy day for the Yarmouth Fire Department.
Around noon they were called to a large grass fire on Burton Avenue behind Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery.

The Department of Natural Resources was also informed of the blaze.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters were called to another grass fire on Hilton Road in Rockville.

Platoon Chief Peter Winship describes the scene there.
“It’s contained in here on the seaside of the road. There are no structures in the area in danger.”
Winship says it’s not uncommon to have grass fires this time of season, depending on the weather.
