The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners fell 3-1 in Dieppe yesterday afternoon. Chris Goreham scored the lone goal for Yarmouth in the third period after the Commandos held a 3-0 lead through two periods. Mariners goalie Leif Hertz was named second star of the game, he made 38 saves. Yarmouth continues to hold a three point lead over the Amherst Ramblers for third place in the Eastlink South Division. The Mariners have two games left in the regular season, both at home. They’ll take on Valley Friday and South Shore on Saturday.

The Wade’s Wire Traps/Five Star Roofing Bantam AA Mariners qualified for provincials at Mariners Centre yesterday. They made it to the championship game of the N.S. Mainland Bantam AA League tournament against Acadia. The Mariners fell 3-1 to the top ranked Axemen, finishing with a silver medal.

Captains Choice Trucking Bantam B Mariners dropped the first game of a three game provincial playdown series. They fell 4-1 to West Hants West Hants Saturday at Mariners Centre. Scoring for Yarmouth was Tristan d’Entremont. Assist went to Rylan d”Entremont. In nets was Liam White.

Four swimmers from Yarmouth participated in the Provincial Long Course Championships in Halifax this weekend which included teams from Atlantic Canada. Ibaad Hemani was the 1rst 12 and under swimmer in the 200 Meter Breast Stroke B Final. Alec d’entremont was the 2nd place 14-15 year old in the 200 Meter Breast Stroke B Final. Mary Beth Brown was 4th in the 50 and 100 Free in the 16 and over A Finals and 5th in the B Final of the 50 Breast. Ian Bullerwell was 3rd in the A Final of the 16 and over 50 Breast, 4th in the A Final of the 16 and over 100 Breast, 5th in the A Final of the 16 and over 200 Breast, and 3rd in the B Finals of the 50 Fly and 50 Back.

The Logan Sweeney rink from Yarmouth went 4-0 over the weekend to win the Gage Canada Winter Games spiel. They beat team Cluff from New Brunswick 5-4 in the final.
