Some renovations are coming for the iconic Cape Forchu Lightstation in Yarmouth.
Friends of the Yarmouth Light Director Patti Durkee says the municipality will be working on the exterior of the building this spring.
“They are doing a number of renovations to the envelope to bring it back to its former self. They put in a new water tank as well, so we shouldn’t be having drought issues like we’ve been having in previous years.”
Some of the work includes re-shingling, roofing and windows.
Durkee says work is also continuing on the fog building for a new lightkeepers workshop.
She says that money will come from $25,000 won in a contest in 2015.
However, Durkee says they are exploring funding options for a wheelchair ramp at a cost of $30,000.
