Motorists in Yarmouth are dodging potholes, not just on side streets, but busy thoroughfares like Main, Pleasant, Water and Forest Streets.
The town is encouraging people to report potholes on the Internet at seeclickfix.com. You can also attach a photo.
Mayor Pam Mood says crews are out when they can to fix in the holes and cracks along the 70 kilometres of streets.
But she asks for patience.
“Our workers are citizens as well and they’re out there on the roads and see what needs to be done and certainly react as quickly as they can. The town monitors road conditions at all times. We do have the asphalt recycler machine. It’s a better solution than cold-patch of course. But keeping in mind that the conditions have to be right for the machine to be effective. Once we’re into the summer we can get into the larger paving program and patch-paving that we contract out.”
Mayor Mood says taxpayers in the town of Yarmouth pay 100 per cent for street repairs and maintenance. There’s no money from the other two levels of government.
