Tomorrow is ‘Hockey Day in Barrington.’
The first ever celebration of our game takes place all day at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena.
At 7pm, the first annual Local Legends Game will take place.
Many former members of the Barrington Ice Dogs, Barons, Sable Fish Packers and more will be divided into two teams, East vs. West.
Organizer Suzy Atwood says it’s a great way to kick off Canada 150 celebrations in Barrington.
“These are all our local legends. They have made an impact in the game of hockey here in Barrington, and outside of our community. We’re really excited to be able to honour them in this way as well.’
Fans are encouraged to wear red and white to the game.
There will be prizes and giveaways throughout the day as well.
Some former Ice Dogs, Barons and Sable Fish Packers will lace them up.
Lunenburg West MLA Mark Furey will be playing, as well as many local councillors including Barrington Warden Eddie Nickerson
South Shore/St. Margaret’s MP Bernadette Jordan will serve as coach of one team, and Argyle/Barrington MLA Chris d’Entremont will be behind the bench on the other side.
