Former New York Ranger Ron Duguay will be part of a charity hockey game in Yarmouth this spring.
The local Gary J. Surette Memorial Association is hosting the NHL Legends Alumni against the Yarmouth All-Stars on April 7th at Mariners Centre.
Tour President Steve Walton says Duguay is one of the biggest celebrities ever to come out of the NHL from his time in New York.
“When he gets to town, for the fans that are around Ron at the meet-and- greet, he doesn’t mind sharing some of those stories off-ice at all.”
Walton says Gary Leeman and Darren Langdon are also new names confirmed to play.
They’ll join the highest scoring defenseman in NHL history Ray Bourque, former Canadiens’ Stephane Richer and Chris Nilan, and hard-shooting defenseman Al Iafrate.
Walton says he’s working on a ‘recently retired NHL player’ to join the festivities, and will make an announcement if that happens.
Proceeds from the game go to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund and the Lodge That Gives in Halifax.
A tournament in Surette’s memory will also be held that weekend.
Surette was a local hockey coach who passed away from cancer.
