Nova Scotia PC Leader Jaime Baillie says it’s a failure of leadership from the government that has caused negotiations with the Teachers Union to go off the rails.
Baillie accuses Premier McNeil of demonizing teachers to pit parents against them.
He says there is no reason why the government should be in this position at this point in the negotiations.
We’re back to where we were last week, except now we’ve all seen the bullying tactics McNeil and Casey will use to get their way. #nspoli

Baillie points to improving classroom safety, eliminating the no-fail policy and making students reponsible for attendance as easy concessions that wouldn’t cost much to implement.
“If we had started down that road – of the things that we agree on to make classrooms better first. I have no doubt that the contract negotiations would’ve worked out for themselves after that kind of trust had been built up between teachers and their government.”
Baillie says if he were Premier he would invest money into getting more teacher’s assistance into the classrooms.
“It would be the earliest and easiest dollars I’d ever spend as Premier to make our classrooms better. It’s an investment in the next generation of Nova Scotians.”
Baillie says a change of government is what’s needed to get the contract done.
