Will it be third time a charm for teachers in Nova Scotia to approve a new contract with government?
Teachers are voting until 8 p.m before the union will let its membership know the results.
As of 1:30 p.m, 90.44% of teachers had voted.
Education and Early Childhood Development Minister, Karen Casey, says teachers have been vocal about their concerns
“I’m hopeful that, that is reflective to their satisfaction in the tentative deal and that will answer the concerns they may have had in previous deals.”
Teachers voted down two tentative agreements before beginning work-to-rule job action on December 5.
Casey says she is optimistic.
“I can’t anticipate what their vote will be but I believe that both sides worked very hard to come up with a deal that does reflect what the negotiating team brought on behalf of teachers.”
Premier Stephen McNeil adds, he is looking forward to the results.
