You’ve likely seen the buses carrying employees to their job at Riverside Lobster International in Clare.
Those buses are far from full, something company CEO David Deveau wants to change.
He says he’s got projects he’s had to put on hold because he can’t find people who want to work.
‘The way it is right now and the people that we need, we’re in trouble. We cant’s start those projects yet. When I got into the processing sector about five years ago, I knew I was going to need a fair amount of people. I was surprised. I thought there was going to be more people.”
Deveau says he has about 300 employees right now.
Deveau says he sees the federal government’s temporary worker program as the only salvation.
He says West Nova MP Colin Fraser has been working with the company on a pilot project.
A full interview with David Deveau will air this Sunday morning on the Y95 CJLS Weekender.
