A Digby County man is facing a slew of charges after he was pulled over by RCMP last week.
34-year-old Nicholas Robinson of Conway, Digby County was stopped by a member of the Digby detachment last Thursday.
An RCMP drug recognition expert was called in and a search of Robinson’s vehicle turned up knives and a baseball bat.
He’s facing charges for possessing those items plus possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marihuana,
impaired driving by drugs, two counts of driving while disqualified and possession of property over $5000 obtained by crime.
Cpl. Jenn Clarke it illuminates the dangers officers face.
“It’s probably one of the most risky things we do, stopping vehicles. It’s easy to let your guard down but of course you can’t. once and a while you stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction and find something like this.”
She says impaired is impaired, whether it’s alcohol or not.
“Impaired by drugs is something that’s been in the news a lot and any chance we get to promote what we do with that is a good opportunity. We certainly do have the resources to pick up on things like that when it’s presented to us.”
Robinson will be in court in Digby on Monday.
