It’s a day sports fans look forward to all year.
The NFL’s Super Bowl Sunday is almost here, and this year Tom Brady and the New England Patriots take on the Atlanta Falcons.
Brady is going for his fifth Super Bowl ring, while the upstart Falcons have never won it all.
Every year we ask some well known sports fans in the community for their thoughts on the big game.
Deputy Mayor of Yarmouth Phil Mooney is going with the perceived favourite.
“The New England Patriots. Tom Brady looks good, I think he’s got the chip on his shoulder. Bill Belichick has them focused, and that’s the best combination you can have in the NFL. Matt Ryan looks good as Falcons quarterback, but I think the old guy wants to teach the young guy a lesson.”
Yarmouth sports guru Brian ‘Sumo’ Comeau says he picked the Falcons to be in the Super Bowl this year, and he’s sticking with them.
“Everything is falling together for them. I really think the Falcons will win it. Wide Receiver Julio Jones is looking great for them. Monday morning will tell, but I think you’ll see the Falcons take it.”
If football’s not your thing, many watch for the high-priced commercials and the half-time show, this year featuring Lady Gaga.
Then of course, there’s always the food.
