It’s back-to-back wins for the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners.
In a rare Sunday home game, the Mariners controlled most of the play en route to a 4-2 win over the South Shore Lumberjacks.

Mateo Short was named first star of the game with two goals, Andrew Martell and Jalen Gillard also scored.
Leif Hertz made 23 saves for his first win since early December, and Mackenzie Janes took the loss in the South Shore net, stopping 32 shots.
When the Mariners went up 4-0 in the third, Head Coach Laurie Barron says his team took the foot off the gas pedal a little bit.
“It’s a good lesson for us. At the end of the day, we accomplished what we set out to do and put ourselves in contention for second spot in our division right now.”
The Mariners moved three points ahead of the Ramblers and Bearcats for second place.
They visit Pictou on Thursday and Truro on Friday.
Barron says it will be a tough test.
“From here on in, it doesn’t get any easier. But we’re looking forward to it. You see what type of character you have on the road. We lost a couple tight ones to those teams on the road and we’re looking for revenge.”
The Mariners return home on Wednesday, February 8th against Dieppe.
